VENETIAN PLASTER FINISHES
There are many variations to what is perceived as "Venetian Plaster". Below are just a few of the many application styles and materials use which makes Venetian Plaster so magnificent and unique.
Stucco Veneziano is the most well known of the Italian plaster families. It is composed of very fine filtered aged lime putty and Carrara marble pulverized into a fine powder thus making it a very shiny Venetian finish, also enhanced by a coating of wax sealer.
Stucco Specchio is a modified Venetian Plaster that suits the professional plasterers need for a polished plaster finish that requires no preparation. Furthermore, it can be applied in as little as 1-2 coats, while still possessing the amazing features of traditional Stucco Veneziano. Stucco Specchio is a firm Venetian Plaster that can be completed in half the time of traditional Venetian Plaster and with fewer steps and less effort.
Muro Antico is a 100% acrylic resin plaster ideal for creating free textures, ranging from 1/8 to 1" thickness. With Muro Antico Plaster you are able to control the dimensions for all types of projects that required consistent feel and appearance. Just a single coat of Muro Antico delivers incredible sense of depth searched for by many.
Stucco Rustico is a lime based texture coating for interiors and exteriors. When coated with Velatura, it provides a natural stone look and feel. It can be tinted on its own, however, for added depth and shade, Velatura becomes a fundamental addition to the products final effect.
Marmorino is an Italian word that refers to little bits or marble, is commonly considered as a slaked lime plaster type product capable of creating smooth and medium textured encaustic effects, polished walls with depth, and gentle shades and color tones via trowel, spatula, and even sponge floats.
Tadelakt or Tadellakt is a bright, nearly waterproof lime plaster which can be used on the inside of buildings and on the outside. It is the traditional coating of the palaces, hammams and bathrooms of the riads in Morocco. Its traditional application includes being polished with a river stone and treated with a soft soap to acquire its final appearance and water resistance.
Marmocarrara (Classico) is also one of the most popular of the Marmorino and decorative stucco families. It is composed of fine filtered aged lime putty and Carrara marble grain up to a max size of .6 mm and can be finished with a mat or polished look also enhanced by a coating of wax sealer. It is a very versatile finish, one that can be finished in several different ways, smooth, textured, Velato (Veiled with color washes) and with a combination of different colors.
